Lagos Driver Hits Policeman While Trying To Avoid LASTMA Arrest (Video)

A Lagos driver who was caught driving against traffic in a bid to evade arrest by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) ended up pushing a policeman over the bridge and into the river with his car.

The yet-to-be-identified man was trying to maneuver through the security operatives that had descended upon him when he hit the police officer, pushing him over a bridge and down into the river.

Luckily, the policeman didn’t die as he fell directly into the river as seen in the video which has gone viral on micro-blogging site, Twitter.

The policeman has been rushed to the clinic and in critical condition according to the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Jubril Gawat while the driver has been arrested.

“The officer is not dead. He broke an arm and in critical condition.

“I will personally investigate this and the driver must face the Law FULLY for committing MULTIPLE Offences,” Gawat tweeted.

Meanwhile, unknown gunmen have reportedly killed four policemen at Nkpologwu, in Aguata local government area of Anambra State and took their rifles away.

Naija News gathered that the police officers were killed at a checkpoint in the community and their patrol vehicle was set ablaze.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Haruna said the gunmen who drove in both in a salon car and a black Mercedes Benz 4Matic SUV, opened fire on the policemen deployed to patrol the two locations.

He revealed that the state Commissioner of Police, Monday Bala Kuryas, has already visited two spots in Mkpologwu, Aguata LGA and Omogho in Orumba North, where the attack took place.

According to Haruna, the police commissioner has ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing of the officers.
