Despite the appeal, however, it is understood that the tension in the area is yet to be fully diffused.

“We have received that report, it is an unfortunate one. The CP has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident with the aim of apprehending the perpetrators of the act.

“And I want to believe that in no distance time we will have an update on the incident because those who have committed the act must be brought to book,” Macdon assured.

In a similar development, Naija News earlier reported that a Sunday morning attack by some gunmen in Akwa Ibom has claimed the life of a mobile police officer.

Reports revealed that the criminal group stormed a police station in the Ini Local Government Area of the state in the early hours of today and shot dead a mobile police officer in a gun duel that reportedly lasted several minutes.

A source who confirmed the incident to newsmen with a plea not to be mentioned, said one of the assailants identified as Imo Udo, was arrested while others escaped with bullet wounds.
