Boko Haram: 18,000 IDPs in Buratai benefit from food distribution scheme
Borno state Deputy Governor, Mamman Durkwa, had on Sunday, commenced the distribution of food to 18,000 Internally Displaced persons at Buratai in Biu local government area of the state.
Durkwa was received at Buratai by the caretaker chairman of Biu local government, Hon. Mohammad Habib Yusuf.
Speaking during the flag off, the Deputy Governor disclosed to the people that, this administration under Kashim Shettima is working efficiently and will ensure that, the people, particularly people affected by the unfortunate crises are taken adequate care of.
Expressing that the governement is people driven, Durkwa said, the food items delivered by the Federal Government in collaboration with NEMA/SEMA to the people of Buratai, Mirnga,Gur,Kimba and Biu townships are evidences that the government did not forget about the predicament of the people in those areas.
According to him, “Leadership and governance is all about commitment to the course of our peoples and we are committed to ensure that we cushion the sufferings of people.”
Also speaking, the Chairman of Biu, Mohammed Habib, appreciated the government for the support.
Biu said, ” We receive this gesture with pleasure and we appreciate and thank the federal and state government for their continuing support to our people. The gesture today will go far in cushioning the effect of hunger among many victims who are living constantly in the fear and concern about what they would eat the next day.”
