Eid Mubarak: Man jailed for six months for stealing Sallah ram
Sulaiman Awokunle, arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Osogbo, Osun State, to six months imprisonment for stealing a ram kept for the Sallah celebration.
The police prosecutor, Elisa Olusegun, disclosed in court that Awokunle stole the N25,000 ram from Saka Idowu around 6 am inside Onunrin’s compound in Iree area of the State.
Olusegun said the offense committed contravened Section 383 andis punishable under Section 390(9) of the criminal code, cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Odun state of Nigeria, 2003.
30-year-old Awokunle, pleaded guilty to the theft claim against him and begged for mercy, Daily Trust reported.

His counsel, Najite Okobe, stressed that his client was a first-time offender and appeled to the court to be lenient in his punishment.
Magistrate Adenike Olowolagba convicted Awokunle and sentenced him to six months imprisonment with an option of ₦4, 000 fine in the spirit of Eid el-Kabir.
