-President Muhammadu Buhari has joined other world leaders to congratulate Germany’s Angela Merkel over her election victory.

-The German Chancellor has been elected for a fourth term in office.

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated German Chancellor, Angela Merkel over her victory at the polls which ensures she returns for a fourth term as the European country’s leader.

She won 33% of the parliamentary elections in Germany according to official results released in the country.

The President’s congratulatory message was released by his Senior Special Assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, on Monday, September 25, 2017, via his Twitter account (@GarShehu).

He posted, “President Buhari felicitates with the German Chancellor’s party for producing leadership for the country for over 12 years, and winning another opportunity to sustain the legacy of good work.

“The President recalls his interactions with Chancellor Merkel over the years, especially at the G8 meeting in 2015 and during his visit to Germany in 2016, coming away with a strong impression of her commitment to building stronger ties across the world.

“President Buhari wishes the German Chancellor a successful tenure.”
