NSCDC Demolishes 28 Illegal Refineries In Edo
28 illegal refineries destroyed by NSCDC in Edo
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Edo State Command, has rvealed that it has destroyed 28 illegal refineries in the state in the last eleven months.
The Commandant of the Corps, Mr Makinde Ayinla, made the revelation to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) today, Monday in Benin, the Edo capital.
Ayinla noted that out of the 28, 15 were demolished in Edo South; five in Edo Central and eight in Edo North, adding that approximately 500,000 litres of illicitly refined and adulterated petroleum product were seized as well as destroyed within the period.
The commandant added that the Edo command has thus far had 17 pending cases in court, while it had secured five convictions of suspects.
Within the period under review, the command apprehended 22 suspects for armed robbery, drug trafficking and prostitution, and the suspects had been handed over to relevant authorities for further action, Ayinla added
He saidthe achievement to the “resilience, commitment and doggedness” of personnel of the command.
Ayinla also applauded sister security agencies for partnering with the Corps, saying: ” let us continue to keep the flag flying”.
