1. Buhari condemns Benue killings, commiserates with Ortom
President Muhammadu Buhari has spoken against the recent killings in Benue state, which he described as regrettable.
He vowed to bring the people behind the heinous crime to justice.
2. Marketers agree to keep fuel price at N145/litre
Indications have emerged that fuel marketers in the country have shelved the idea of an increase in pump price of petrol.
They are however pushing for the federal government to settle the outstanding subsidy claims.
3. Arrested Badoo king pin refuses to appear before Lagos CP
Suspected Badoo kingpin, Alhaji Alaka Abayomi, has said he is ready to submit himself to the Nigeria Police Force for investigations.
He however said allowing Lagos Police commissioner, Edgal Imohi to oversee the investigation may constitute bias.
4. Buhari to open 2019 campaign office January 20
The Minister of Communications, Alhaji Adebayo Shittu, said on Wednesday that although President Muhammadu Buhari had not made up his mind on the 2019 presidential election, he would be prevailed upon to seek re-election.
5. Youths stone Governor Ortom over Benue killings
Protesting residents of Benue state, yesterday stoned Governor Samuel Ortom over the gruesome murder of some residents of the state by suspected herdsmen.
The governor was on a mission to placate and appeal to the protesters to allow peace to reign.
6. Nationwide black out persists as national grid collapses
The nationwide blackout continued Wednesday after efforts by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to restore electricity failed, following the collapse of the transmission network.
The restoration of the grid has however reached an advanced stage according to a statement by the transmission company.
7. 2018 appropriation bill is unconstitutional – Olisa Agbakoba
Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Olisa Agbakoba has noted that the executive failed to comply with the procedures of preparing budgets before the document was presented before the National Assembly.
8. Ohanaeze vows to resist war in Igbo land
The Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has said Igbo would never again go to war to resolve conflicts in the country but would rather adopt diplomacy as a tool for conflict resolution.
9. 2017 CAF awards set to hold today
Several top prizes will be up for grabs at the 2017 CAF Awards today in Accra, Ghana.
Though Nigeria’s Victor Moses has been dropped from the final 3-man final shortlist, several other Nigerians as well as the Super Eagles team are still in contention for awards.
