Fuel Crisis: Motorists Are Aiding Illegal Sale of Petrol – DPR, NSCDC
Officials of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Ogun State and officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have alleged that some motorists are supporting the extortion and illegal sale a litre of petrol above the approved pump price of N145.
The government officials made the revelation at the border town of Owode Idiroko.
The DPR and NSCDC had gone for inspection, to monitor the compliance of sale of fuel at the official price and ensure filling station with petrol sell to motorists instead of hoarding it.
While speaking about his experience during the exercise
The Head of Operations, DPR office in the state, Kasali Akinade disclosed his observations during the inspection exercise saying that motorists are even hiding information from them and allow the petrol filling station owners reap them off.
He advised them to speak up at the right time instead of dying in silence, noting that the agency is ready to work with security agents in ensuring that all petroleum filling stations with the commodity sell at the official rate or risk being sanctioned.
