Osun Policeman Found Dead in Sawmill

A policeman, identified as Sunday Adejumo was discovered dead beside the Onibueja Sawmill, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The corpse was discovered today, Wednesday, by the officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Wale Afolabi, stated that when the NSCDC operatives found out  that the deceased was a police officer, they immediately contacted the state police who hurried to the scene, Daily Sun reports.

Afolabi said the lifeless body of the cop was seen in front of Dawodu Petrol Station beside the sawmill.

An itel phone, a wrist watch and one Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card were found on the late policeman.

It was learnt that late Adejumo was attached to the Provost Section at the Zone 11 Headquarters of the Nigerian Police Force, in Osogbo.

The circumstances surrounding the death of the late cop could not be ascertained at the time of filling this report.

But sources said he was, on Tuesday, seen at the sawmill where he had paid for some planks and was expected to return and pick them, on Wednesday, when he was found dead at the place.

One of the residents of the the area said: “We saw this man here yesterday. He came to this sawmill to buy planks. He paid for the planks, but he did not go with the them.

“The planks seller was expecting the man to come and carry the planks today. We are surprised to see his dead body this morning.”

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Zone 11 Police Headquarters including Osun, Oyo and Ondo states, Agboola Osodi-Glova, confirmed the identity of the late policeman.

He explained that the circumstances leading to his death would be investigated.
