Benue killings: Gov. Lalong Apologises Over Comments
The Plateau State Governor, Solomon Lalong, has tendered an apology to Governor, Samuel Ortom, for his comments on the killings by herdsmen in Benue State.
Lalong, in an interview with State House correspondents, after his visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, had said that he warned his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom, against implementing the anti-grazing law in the state.
However, on Saturday, Lalong said his comment on the incident was misinterpreted.
He said, “I must say that I humbly apologise for my comments which was misinterpreted.”
Lalong therefore, commiserated again with the people of Benue State over the loss of lives during the attack, adding that his comments generated “a lot of social media write-ups.”
He said, “I apologise for that because neither the argument for nor against helps the matter because it involves lives.”
