Finally, Mesut Ozil Signs New Contract With Arsenal
Arsenal have followed up an excellent January transfer window with the news that star player, Mesut Ozil has committed to a new long term deal.
The German play-maker’s contract was already in its last six months and various speculations suggested the player may not sign a contract extension but would rather seek a move away from the club.
But Ozil has now agreed a new deal which would reportedly keep him at the North London club till 2021.
The exact length of Ozil’s new deal has not been made public but it is reported to be a three-year deal which would make him earn up to £350, 000 pounds weekly, comfortably making him the highest earner at the Emirates Stadium.
“We’re delighted to announce that Mesut Ozil has signed a new long-term contract with us,” the club confirmed via their official website.
“Congratulations Mesut – here’s to many more years of success.”
The player also took to his official Instagram page to reveal the new deal: “It’s been one of the most important decisions of my footballing career and that’s why I had to think hard and talk with everyone who’s important to me…
“Good things take time! In the end I let my heart decide,” Ozil said.
Recall manager Arsene Wenger had always insisted Ozil would remain with the club and not be sold in the January transfer window.
