Four UN Aids Dead In Fresh Boko Haram Attack
About four UN aid workers are fear dead in attack yesterday night believed to be coordinated by Boko Haram Insurgents at Rann community in Kala Balge Local Government of Borno State
Naija News also learnt that a female aid worker, said to be a nurse is also missing while another one sustained serious injuries during the attack, according to UNICEF communications.
According to Samantha Newport, Head of Communications, UNICEF Office for Coordination of Humanitarian, two of the deceased were personnel of UN client organisation, International Organisation of Migration ( IOM), deployed in Rann as camp managers.
Others included a medical doctor working as consultant with UNICEF and an aid worker with International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) affiliate organisation.
She noted that all who died in the incident were Nigerians and that the world body would soon issue a statement on the incident.
Naija News gathered that the attack took place in the town at about 7pm. The insurgents were said to have come in on gun trucks and motorcycles, attacked a military base and a displaced persons’ camp
Military authorities haven’t commented on the incident yet.
