Mikel To Miss Super Eagles Clash Against Serbia
Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, will not be in the the Super Eagles team which would take on Serbia in an international friendly game on Tuesday.
The midfielder also missed Nigeria’s match against Poland which the Eagles won courtesy of a Victor Moses penalty goal.
Reports obtained by Naija News suggests Mikel’s absence is connected with the renewal of his work permit in China where he plays his club football for Tianjin TEDA.
Naija News also learnt Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr may not be able to call on the services of full-back Shehu Abdullahi after he limped out with a hamstring injury against Poland.
Central defender, Leon Balogun also had a ‘slight knock’ against Poland, with Leicester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, also nursing injury as a result of a fractured right hand.
Though he won’t be on the pitch, captain Mikel Obi, backed his teammates to record another win over the Serbian national team.
This, he revealed on his official Twitter account.
“Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control I will not be on the field for our game v Serbia tomorrow. I am sad, and frustrated, but giving my full support to the team for another WIN!”
