Naija News learnt that the protesters also condemned moves by the government to ban all forms of protests at the Unity Fountain.
This fresh protest is coming few days after Naija News reported the arrest of Deji Adeyanju, a Co-convener of pro-democracy group, Concerned Nigerians, was arrested in Abuja by men of the Nigerian police.
Deji started a daily sit-out at the Unity fountain yesterday, demanding the release of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria aka Shiites, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky. The police men had reportedly barricaded the Unity Fountain preventing the protesters from gaining access to hold the daily sit-out.
The policemen reportedly threw teargas at the protesters. The officers thereafter picked up Deji and other leaders of the group.
