Russell Simmons Releases Statement Supporting #MeToo Movement
Russell Simmons has declared his support for the #MeToo movement after the rape law suit against the American entrepreneur, producer, and author was dismissed.
The producer who posted on his Instagram recently stated that he hasn’t felt “too angry” about the allegations against because he has been “listening intently to the dialogue around the #metoo movement” which he said inspired him to look beyond his “personal scenario.”
Russell Simmons was previously charged with a $5 million rape lawsuit and the suit got dropped last week.
Jennifer Jarosik, a 37 year-old filmmaker, who accused him, decided to drop the charges against the hip-hop mogul. The allegations was thrown out in a “joint stipulation of dismissal with prejudice,” meaning the filmmaker he can’t refile the case.
And now, Simmons is talking about his support for the #MeToo movement, adding, “In the end I’ll be fine. I’ve accepted responsibility for the life that I have lived and been very forcefully and vehemently denying accusations for things that I have not done.”
