Reactions Pour In As US Opens Jerusalem Embassy
UK Has No Plans To Move Israel Embassy To Jerusalem – PM’s Spokesman
The United Kingdom’s Prime Minister’s spokesman has once again disagreed with the United States decision to move its Israel embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
“The PM said in December when the announcement was first made that we disagree with the U.S. decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem and recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital before a final status agreement. The British embassy to Israel is based in Tel Aviv and we have no plans to move it,” the spokesman told reporters.

However President Trump‘s national security adviser, John Bolton, has also described the controversial decision a “recognition of reality.” He also said that relocating the embassy from Tel Aviv will “make it easier” to eventually reach a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians, even though the region is bracing for large protests.
“If you’re not prepared to recognize that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and that’s where the American Embassy should be, then you’re operating on a completely different wavelength,” Bolton said.
Turkey’s presidential spokesman on Monday also reacted to the U.S. embassy’s planned move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Jordanian Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Mohammed Momani also criticized the decision of the U.S as the move would violate international law.
The minister said that Amman would continue working together with its Palestinian partners and stressed the need of international efforts to settle the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
Meanwhile, the ceremony to inaugurate the United States’ controversial embassy in Jerusalem has begun with the US President Donald Trump given a standing ovation when the US ambassador to Israel David Friedman mentioned his name.
