Governor Ganduje Settles Kano House of Assembly Crisis
Warring Legislators In Kano State Resolve Conflict
Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has settled the crisis that rocked Kano State House of Assembly recently and saved the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Yusuf Abdullahi Ata from being impeached.
A statement by the Commissioner for information, Mohammed Garba, said the reconciliation was consummated in the late hours of Tuesday during a meeting at the Government House between representatives of the two feuding factions and the governor.
According to him, the Assembly will reopen on Thursday to further consolidate the resolutions reached at the meeting.
“Following the reconciliation which brought the crisis to an end, the Assembly will reopen on Thursday to further consolidate the resolutions reached at the meeting.
“The reconciliation meeting was held late yesterday at the Government House between representatives of the two feuding factions and Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who intervened to resolve the crisis in the interest of peace and democratic development of the state.”
“The meeting was held in a matured and responsible manner,” Mr Garba said.
Recall Naija News earlier reported plans by some members of the Kano state assembly to impeach their speaker, but were prevented by security operatives who took over the assembly complex in what they described as attempts to stop the break down of law and order in the state.
