Fayemi Reveals Alledged Plans To Disrupt Ekiti Governorship Elections
Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi, has said that some uniformed militant have been camped in secret locations in the state to disrupt the peaceful process of the forthcoming Saturday elections.
This, the governorship aspirant said during the weekend in an interview programme on Voice 89.9FM, a radio station in Ado-Ekiti.
He explained that the suspected militants are sewing uniforms of officers of the Department of State Services (DSS), the army and police to intimidate voters and destabilize the elections.
He warned that these militants should leave in their interest or risk been arrested.
The APC candidate said there would be adequate and maximum security during the elections, hence no cause for anxiety.
“I want to assure prospective voters that Ekiti will be safe; it will be secured; there will be maximum security for this election,” he said.
“Our people should go about their businesses in peace and they should not be threatened. They should not feel harassed by all we are hearing from those who don’t want free and fair electoral process.
The former minister said Ekiti is in a sorry state because of “unseriousness in governance”.
He said he would get a moratorium of six months to clear the backlog of salaries owed workers between six and nine months.
