Zimbabwe Election: Woman Collapses, Dies On Queue
Country Await Announcement Of Election Result
The first Zimbabwe presidential election, since the ouster of Robert Mugabe, has seen a voter die on the queue as Zimbabweans await election result.
In a statement by Priscilla Chigumba, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission chairperson, during a media briefing on Monday night, stated that the woman, who had come to the polling unit to cast her vote died at the polling unit in Bulilima, reports iHarare.
“The commission is saddened to learn of an unfortunate incident in Bulilima where a female voter collapsed and died at a polling station. We want to express our deepest condolences to the family of the now deceased,” she said.
The result of the election is still been expected with the country’s electoral body preparing for a run-off election in case no candidate is able to win 50% of the vote as constitutionally required.
