Just In: 23 Members Of Kwara House Of Assembly Defect To PDP
Kwara Lawmakers Join PDP
The defection drama in Kwara State from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is yet to end as 23 members of the Kwara State House of Assembly, defected this morning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This latest defection was widely expected after Senate President, Bukola Saraki, state governor, Abdulfatai Ahmed and top politicians of the state formerly in affiliation with APC, defected yesterday.
The National Spokesperson of the APC, Bolaji Abdullahi, also announced his defection Wednesday morning.
Reading out a joint letter appended to by all defecting members, Rt. Hon. Alli Ahmad, speaker of the state legislature, stated that the members alleged that their move was informed by factionalisation of the ruling party at the local level.
After reading the letter, the speaker, himself, appended his signature to the list of defectors which already had his name as one of the defectors.
“I am so happy leaving the APC today,” he said.
