Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has launched the Automated Land Use Charge Payment System following disagreements in the payments related to land in the state.
In a statement which was issued by the Media Aide to the Governor, the new payment system is the initiative of the State Board of Internal Revenue – to eradicate double taxation and other encumbrances associated with land use charge and its payment process.
According to the statement, Governor Akeredolu assured the people of the State that the new system was not meant to put burden on them.
The new process, he said, is expected to block all loopholes in the Internally Generated Revenue in the State.
More importantly, the Governor reiterated the fact that it was important to implement the 2014 Land Use Law to boost IGR across the state.
The Commissioner of Land and Housing, Donald Ojogo and his counterpart in the Ministry of Finance, Wale Akinterinwa, while jointly speaking with Journalists, commended the Governor for displaying courage and political will to implement the 2014 Land Use Charge Law of the State.
