Juventus forward and Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo has been left out of the Portugal’s squad for the Nations League and friendly matches at his own request, coach Fernando Santos said Friday.

Recall that Naija News reported that Cristiano Ronaldo was absent at the ceremony of the UEFA Award, which saw Modric win the award ahead of Salah and Ronaldo.

Ronaldo had won the award of the best striker in the competition, while sergio Ramos won the award for the best defender.

Santos said he and Ronaldo had discussed the situation after the star moved from Real Madrid to Juventus “and I decided, given the process of adaptation he needed (at his new club), that he would not be with us during this window“.
