INEC Gives Update On Rivers Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans and dates for the collation and announcement of governorship election results in Rivers state.

According to the electoral umpire, the collation and announcement of election results for Rivers State will hold between April 2 and 5.

INEC made the announcement on Thursday during a press conference ahead of the Saturday’s supplementary elections.

Naija News recalls INEC had suspended the March 9 governorship electoral process in Rivers state, citing widespread conflict and violence.

Festus Okoye, INEC commissioner for information and voter education, further added that where necessary, rerun election will hold on April 13.

Okoye during the press briefing at the commission’s conference room added that the announcement of results will be done on April 15 while issuance of the certificate of return will be on April 19.
