Nigerians React As Osinbajo Gives Update On 2nd Niger Bridge
A storm of reactions by Nigerians has greeted the assurance by Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo that President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government will complete the second Niger Bridge on schedule
Naija News reports that Osinbajo gave the assurance to the people of South East and South-South geopolitical zones during a one-day visit to Anambra State to launch the second phase of TraderMoni, a federal government micro-credit scheme for petty traders.
While describing the second Niger bridge project as a priority to All Progressives Congress (APC) government, the Vice President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that the country remained united, where nobody would be oppressed.
His words: “We are all brothers regardless of religion, ethnicity or political affiliation.
“We want to make sure that even in terms of execution of projects, we are fair and just, which is the commitment that the president has made.
“The President is committed to ensuring that he brings this to fulfilment.”
Osinbajo, who inspected the Delta State axis of the Second Niger Bridge, reassured the people that the Federal Government was committed to completing the project and the access roads.
His words: “We want to make sure that we complete it because of its economic benefit to the zone and the entire country.
“The Second Niger Bridge is among the five projects where money has actually been set aside under a Presidential funding initiative to ensure completion.
“So, we have no fears that it will be completed as promised and scheduled,” he added.
Moments after pictures of the Vice President inspecting the site surfaced, Nigerians took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter, to air their opinions on the construction of the 2nd Niger Bridge.
Naija News captured some of the reactions below…
After decades of lies and false promises, I am glad that the Second Niger Bridge is finally being built. https://t.co/pF2HDm1Yp6

Maybe you just need to hold your peace yet on that project. The work there is very far from where it ought to be. I travelled recently along that route and I felt bitter at the pace of work, since over 2 years I went through same

…"i would rather go from nothing than stay at nothing"…this is where bad governance in Nigeria takes precedence over good governance. They've made us citizens who always expectlittle even when we are aware that the people own the source where the little is coming from.

The Second Niger Bridge is gradually taking shape.
The main bridge, which has a length of 1.59 kilometres, forms part of the 11.9km length of the entire 2nd Niger Bridge project (Asaba road, toll plaza, bridge & Onitsha road.)

What is making PDP go mad is, PMB have proven that what they couldn't achieve in 16yrs, was possible in 4yrs. I travelled from Lagos to Owerri today,God is my witness, it hasn't been this easy for a long while. Now getting to the Niger Bridge, on sighting the huge works going on

Let the truth be told.
President Buhari has done more on 2nd Niger Bridge than any other president since 1999.
This is the first time one can see that work is actually ongoing. pic.twitter.com/4RNdlJxkbK

This is a confirmation that the Second Niger Bridge is being constructed. It means it was not a vote buying project.
Lagos-Ibadan expressway is also going on as well as the Kano-Abuja.
I rejoice at the sight of these projects. We desire speedy completion as soon as possible.
