Four hundred and sixty-nine lawmakers who were elected on the platform of various political parties in the February 23 National Assembly elections and the subsequent supplementary election will get N4.68bn as welcome package immediately after their inauguration in June. The package is to help the lawmakers sort out accommodation and furniture issues, The Punch reports.
2. National Assembly: Senate Presidency Not Do-or-die – Lawan
Ahead of the inauguration of the Ninth Senate and the election of a new Senate President, the Senate Leader, Dr Ahmad Lawan, on Wednesday said the battle for the exalted position is not a do-or-die affair. He made this known when he met with representatives of media organisations in Abuja against the backdrop of the fierce contest for the position of the Senate president.
