Eagles Lose To Algeria
The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Sunday, lost their semi-final encounter against Algeria by two goals to one at the ongoing AFCON 2019 tournament.
A penalty goal by Odion Ighalo cancelled out William Troost-Ekong’s own goal but Riyad Mahrez settled the game in favour of the Algerians in the 95th minute.
Ekong had turned the goal into his own net in the 40th minute of the encounter to give the Algerians the lead but Ighaho levelled matters in the 70th minute with a penalty goal.
The Algerians, however, had the final say as Riyad Mahrez scored in the 95th minute to give the North Africans victory.
With this result, Nigeria will now face Tunisia in the third place play-off of the tournament while Algeria will face Senegal in the finals.
