Naija News understands angry protesters on Friday blocked the popular Kaduna-Abuja highway causing heavy traffic hold up on the road.

The protesters are said to be commercial vehicle drivers protesting over the alleged shooting of a colleague by the police.

Road users claim the driver was shot by the policemen close to Olam Chicken Feed Company while en route Kaduna in the early hours of Friday.

Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna state commissioner for internal security, said in a Facebook post that efforts are being made to clear the gridlock.

“Kaduna-Abuja Road gridlock around Olam Company… We are working and the road will be cleared in a jiffy,” he said.
