Operatives of the Ilemba Hausa Police in Lagos have apprehended an armed robbery suspect for allegedly stealing from a congregation during a church retreat in the Ojo area of Lagos state.

Naija News reports that the suspect identified simply as Wasiu Kamarudeen, 19, was said to have gone to the Jakande open field venue of a three-day retreat organised by St. Patrick Catholic Renewal Church, in Ojo.

Kamarudeen, was reported to have stormed the retreat scene with three others around 6:20am.

It was gathered that the church members who felt suspicious when a bike conveying the three members stormed the retreat ground, contacted the Police who invaded the venue to arrest Kamarudeen, while two others were reported to have escaped arrest.

Kamarudeen was allegedly arrested in the company of his locally-made short gun with a live cartridge in his possession.

While confirming the arrest of Kamarudeen, Police spokesman Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), said the policemen recovered the operational motorcycle, adding that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has been tasked to fish out other members of the gang.
