Reacting in a tweet on Monday, Nigeria’s minister of foreign affairs, says “mindless criminals” were responsible for the attack.
Describing the attacks as “sickening”, the minister called for greater police protection and promised the federal government of Nigeria will take definitive measures to curb the situation.
“Received sickening and depressing news of continued burning and looting of Nigerian shops and premises in #SouthAfrica by mindless criminals with ineffective police protection. Enough is enough. We will take definitive measures,” he tweeted.
