Atiku Commisserates With Victims Of Onitsha Fire

Former Vice President and 2019 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the fire incident that ravaged the Onitsha main market.

In his reaction in a personally signed message on Thursday, Atiku described the incident as sad and avoidable.

Recall as earlier reported by Naija News, the huge fire incident is understood to have started after a truck conveying premium motor spirit (petrol) lost control and rammed into the fence of Toronto Hospital, Upper-Iweka, Onitsha.

The inferno started when the tanker spilled its content and subsequently ignited the fire outbreak.

Atiku on Thursday said of the fire incident: “We’ve had many preventable fuel tanker tragedies. I received with sadness, reports of a tanker explosion in Onitsha, Anambra State, which caused massive destruction to lives and properties in Ochanja Market area. My prayers and thoughts are with the families of the affected.”
