Breaking: Court Sacks Bayelsa APC Deputy Governorship Candidate
APC Suffers Setback In Bayelsa Governorship Race
The All Progressives Congress (APC) suffered a major blow on Tuesday when a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja disqualified its deputy governorship candidate for the Bayelsa polls.
The Judge ruled that Senator Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo presented false information in his CF0001 form submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) to contest the election.
Naija News reports the development is coming less than one week to the scheduled November 16 governorship election in Bayelsa State.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a judgment on Tuesday, said he found no connection in the name on Degi-Eremienyo’s school-leaving certificate, first degree (BA), Master’s and the affidavits he sworn to the correct his name.
The judge, therefore, held that all his documents bore different names and hence he stands disqualified on the ground that he provided false information to INEC to stand for the election.
The case seeking Degi-Eremienyo’s disqualification was brought before the court by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who also listed the Bayelsa APC governorship candidate, David Lyon, and INEC as parties in the case.
