Gov. Ortom Speaks After Appeal Court Victory
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has reacted to the ruling of the court of appeal which affirmed his re-election.
Naija News had earlier reported that the court of appeal sitting in Abuja on Thursday dismissed the appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress and its governorship candidate, Emmanuel Jime, over lack of merit.
The court also awarded the sum of N150,000 fine against Jime.
Governor Ortom while reacting to the judgement in a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, described it as a victory for the people of the state.
He noted that the ruling of the appeal court has not only validated the earlier judgment of the Governorship Election Tribunal but also confirmed the mandate given to him by the people of Benue state.
He thanked God for giving him the opportunity to lead the state for another term and appreciated the leadership and members of the PDP in the state, as well as the people of the state.
The Benue State governor appreciated his legal team for their outstanding performance at the Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.
He stated that the duty of building the state is in the hands of everyone. He urged the candidate of APC and other candidates in the last election to join hands with him to develop the state.
Ortom noted that he is ready to work with anyone irrespective of their political differences, ethnicity, religion and place of origin, for a greater Benue.
