Just In: Foreigners Abducted In Osun Regain Freedom
Three Chinese miners abducted by unknown gunmen in Ijoka village near Itagunmodi, Osun State, have been released.
The Osun State Police Commissioner, Abiodun Ige confirmed their release on Wednesday.
Naija News recalls that gunmen had stormed a mining site on Monday afternoon and exchanged gunshots with the police team providing security for the Chinese and reportedly killed one police orderly before they could carry out the kidnap.
It was gathered that a Chinese expatriate that tried to escape from the gunmen was shot and injured.
The expatriate is currently at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, receiving medical treatment.
Speaking to newsmen, CP Ige had on Tuesday disclosed that operatives of the Nigeria police were already in the bushes in search of the abductors.
