Babangida Speaks On Effect Of Civil War On Nigeria
General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), the former Military President of Nigeria, has revealed that the plan to reconcile Nigerians after the civil war has had a limited impact on the country.
Babangida during an interview on Channels TV stated that the plan was not effective because authorities were consistent in the drive for reconciliation.
The former military head, however, commended initiatives like the National Youth Service Corps and the unity schools created around the nation.
He called on the Federal Government to do more by consistently pushing hard to achieve their objectives.
In his statement, he said, “For example, the NYSC, unity schools.. I think we didn’t push it hard”.
“We should have pushed all those hard so that people from different parts of the country can say that we met at unity schools together.”
