Deji Adeyanju Speaks On Running For Political Office
According to the Convener of the pro-democracy group, Concerned Nigerians, citizens in the grassroots are the major cause of problems faced in the country. Deji noted that Nigerians are not ready to vote in people with great ideas, rather they prefer to fight for party agents and election money.
Nigerian activist and a former Head of New Media for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Deji Adeyanju, has stated in a recent tweet on his Twitter handle that Nigerians are not yet ready for good leadership.
According to the Convener of the pro-democracy group, Concerned Nigerians, citizens in the grassroots are the major cause of problems faced in the country. Deji noted that Nigerians are not ready to vote in people with great ideas, rather they prefer to fight for party agents and election money.
The activist stated further that he only laughs when people encourage him to contest for a political office in the country.
Deji who has faced several arrests noted that he has no money to waste for any political office as that is the only thing electorates in Nigeria are concerned about.
His tweets read: “When I hear people advise me to run for political office, all I do is laugh. Do I have 100 or N200m to waste? In Nigeria, the grassroot does not want to hear big grammar or bright ideas. All they want is money -Party agents, etc. We are not ready and we have too many issues in Nigeria.”
“When I see people lying to themselves and others on social media about elections in Nigeria and giving false hope that does not exist, I just laugh. The earlier we start telling ourselves the truth, the better. The real problem is in the grassroot.”
