Nigeria’s opposition party in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, condemned a recent attack on health workers in the state, urged security agencies to carry out an investigation into the matter.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has admonished President Muhammadu Buhari to call to order Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State over his approach in handling issues of COVID-19 in the state.
Nigeria’s opposition party in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, condemned a recent attack on health workers in the state, and urged security agencies to carry out an investigation into the matter.
PDP insisted that the perpetrators of the Lokoja Federal Medical Centre attack must be brought to book while their sponsors are also exposed.
Ologbondiyan in the statement condemned Governor Bello’s approach, termed it “managers of COVID-19”.
“We urge President Muhammadu Buhari to call Governor Yahaya Bello to order, particularly over his needless confrontation with the managers of COVID-19 in the state,” the opposition’s statement reads.
Ologbondiyan added, “PDP calls on the security agencies to immediately commence a high-level investigation into the attack on the Federal Medical Center, Lokoja and ensure that the gunmen and their sponsors are made to face the wrath of the law.”
Meanwhile, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has rubbished claims that he is planning to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
