According to reports, Kurfi town in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State was on Sunday, August 9 at about 8 pm attacked by some groups of bandits.

Naija News learnt that the armed bandits invaded the community at the time Muslim faithful were preparing for Isha’i prayers on Sunday evening.

Sources from the community confirmed to newsmen that the heavily armed bandits stormed the village shooting sporadically and forced themselves into some households and shops, where they killed and carted away people’s belongings.

As and when the report was given, lives lost and damages done by the terror group could not be ascertained, however, residents are said to have fled their homes and take cover in bushes around.

Katsina State, which borders Niger Republic, has suffered a series of attacks from bandits and other terrorist groups operating in the area, Naija News understands.

Meanwhile, there was an earlier report of attack on some foreign nationals working with ACTED, a French humanitarian organisation across the border where six French aid workers, a guide and driver were killed by a suspected terrorist group across the border in Niger.

Naija News understands that the attack has not been claimed yet by any group as at the time this report was given, although residents in the state alleged that bandits or ISIS groups may be behind the attack.
