South-West security outfit codenamed ‘Operation Amotekun‘ has arrested a herdsmen for allegedly destroying crops worth five million naira (N5m).

Naija News understands that Adamu Yusuf was apprehended by the Ondo State chapter of the Amotekun Corps in the Oda area of the state.

The corps, after arrest reportedly seized 65 cows belonging to the herdsmen for allegedly destroying crops belonging to some farmers in the state. Giving an update on the development, Adeleye Olatunji, Commander of Amotekun in Ondo, who visited the reportedly destroyed farmlands  said the security outfit acted following reports from farmers in Idea that herdsmen are destroying their cassava, maize and yam.

He said, “We had to move straight into action around 10:00pm and went into the farm where we caught them with over 65 cows.

“So, we marched them from Odo-Igbo community to Amotekun headquarters after the operation,” Olatunji added.

While decrying the activities of the herdsmen in the state over the destruction of farmlands, Olatunji said the security agencies would not allow crime of any type in Ondo.
