Banditry Will End In The North If This …… Is Done – Governor Matawalle
Zamfara State Governor, Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has urged all northern state governors to join heads together to destroy bandits camps in his state in other to end their continues operation in the region.
Naija News understands the governor stated this while receiving members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who paid a condolence visit to the state over the killing of eight persons in the convoy of the Emir of Kaura Namoda.
According to Matawalle, while addressing the NWC members led by its Chairman, Uche Secondus, said the end to banditry attack in the northern region is in Zamfara state which he governs.
The governor described the state as ‘the epicentre of banditry in the North’.
He said; “Zamfara is the epicentre of banditry in the North and if the issue of banditry is taken seriously in Zamfara State, I assure you the whole issue of banditry in Northern Nigeria will end.
“So, I’m calling on my colleagues and the security agencies to put more efforts in Zamfara State so that we can identify all the camps of the bandits and destroy them.
“If we don’t destroy them, we may not be able to end the issue of banditry in the North or Nigeria at large. No matter what the bandits tell you about dialogue or reconciliation”.
Meanwhile, suspected members of the dreaded Boko Haram terrorist group on Thursday night attacked Garkida town in Gombi local government area of Adamawa State.
Naija News reports that the Boko Haram insurgents thronged the town through the main road in the late afternoon, forcing residents to flee to the surrounding mountains, DailyTrust reports.
