JUST IN: Popular Nollywood Actor Ernest Asuzu Is Dead

A report reaching Naija News says veteran and popular Nollywood actor Ernest Asuzu is dead.

According to the wife of the late actor, Jennifer Asuzu, her husband died on Tuesday evening at the age of 36.

She said Asuzu fainted on Tuesday evening around 9 pm and died afterward.

According to Jennifer, her husbands’ remains are on the way to the east for funeral rites.

The actor’s wife was said to have called actor and politician, Desmond Elliot to announce the death to him.

Asuzu who had suffered a stroke since 2015 made headlines when a video of him pleading for alms went viral on social media.

This news platform reports that the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) had set up a committee to raise funds for Asuzu when he was sick.

The AGN President, Emeka Rollas, said that the body has set up a committee to raise funds for its ailing member, Asuzu.

Rollas told reporters last year that other members of the guild had begun to respond to the directives of the association toward assisting their ailing colleague.

Rollas said, “Ernest Asuzu is one of us. “I have always identified with him since he developed stroke until there was a break in communication between them, but thank God that we have reconnected.

“We are following up on our promises and have swung into action by setting up a special fundraising committee for him through which our members can assist him.’’

Rollas said that the idea was to raise money for him and the wife to take care of their daily needs.
