Just In: Popular Northern Emir Is Dead

The Emir of Kagara in Niger State, Alhaji Salihu Tanko has reportedly died, Naija News reports.

The development was made known in a tweet on Tuesday by the former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani who prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased.

Sani in his reaction to the death of the Emir, said he was saddened by his passing away.

He wrote: “I received the sad news of the death of the Emir of Kagara, Niger State, Alhaji Salihu Tanko.May Allah grant him Aljanna firdausi.Amin.Inna lillahi wainna Illayhir rajiun.”

Kagara has been in the news recently over the attack on some schools located in the area by armed bandits who kidnapped some students and staff.

The students and staff, kidnapped from Government Science College in Kagara, Niger State have however been released by their abductors.

As previously reported by Naija News, they were released on Saturday morning.
