Security Operatives Launch Manhunt for Killers Of LAUTECH Student, Others

The Nigerian Army has moved the remaining students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation (FCFM), Afaka in the Mando area of Kaduna State to 1 Division Garrison Command in Ribadu Cantonment.

Naija News had reported that suspected gunmen invaded the school and abducted the female students on Thursday night.

According to the BBC, a witness said half of the female students were taken but not a single male was abducted.

The development was confirmed by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who disclosed that the investigation is ongoing.

The spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Mohammed Jalige said the exact number of students abducted is uncertain.

“They were abducted last night, we have no details of the number of students and I can’t say if they are all female,” ASP Jalige said in a phone conversation with Daily Trust.

He said the Police are working with the Nigerian Army to trace the kidnappers and rescue the students.

However, a military source told Daily Trust that the students have been evacuated to the cantonment in order to secure the remaining ones.

The source said some students were rescued during the attack but the kidnappers made away with an unconfirmed number of students.

He said the attack would have been worse if not for the efforts of personnel of the Nigerian Air Force and troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army Headquarters, Kaduna.
