The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, on Thursday noted that the Peoples Democratic Party lost the presidential election due to manipulations by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Independent National Electoral Commission.

Governor Mohammed stated this during his presentation of the report at the party’s review of the 2019 elections.

President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC defeated the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar with over 3 million votes, however, Gov. Mohammed says what transpired was manoeuvred.

The Bauchi State Governor in his statement said, “The general impression within the party and within the country is that we actually won the election and that we lost to a lot of fraud, to a lot of manipulations either by the electoral umpire or by the security operatives.”

Mohammed who also serves as Chairman of PDP’s 2019 Elections Review Committee, while speaking on Channels TV, said a full report has been presented by his team.

He added, “We had a lot of evidence (of manipulation) we tendered but they were not accepted – Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on why the PDP lost in 2019.”

He, however, noted that the main opposition party is not only weighing the alleged manipulations that led to its defeat in 2019 but are looking inward to ensure that internal politics will not hamper future progress.
