Owner Of Collapsed Ikoyi Building, Femi Osibona Is Dead

The owner of the 21-storey building which collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos State, Femi Osibona has been confirmed dead.

Naija News learnt that Osibona who was the Managing Director of Fourscore Homes Limited was trapped inside the 21-storey building under construction alongside one of his friends, Bob Oseni.

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA confirmed the development to newsmen on Thursday evening after the rescue team had reportedly discovered Osibona’s body.

Though there were controversies over the numbers of casualties recorded at the site, authorities have confirmed that 39 bodies have been so far recovered from the rubble.

Meanwhile, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has inaugurated members of the probe tribunal that will conduct an inquiry into the collapse of the 21-storey structure on Gerrard Road in Ikoyi.

The Governor had lamented bitterly on the incident which has left many families in tears since it happened on Monday.

Naija News reports that the probe tribunal was made known in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Gboyega Akosile.

According to the statement, the Governor also signed the instrument legitimising the composition of the panel and empowering the tribunal to invite or summon anyone and organisation useful to the investigation.

Members of the tribunal, who are totally drawn from the private sector, took the oath at the event held in the LASWA Building at Falomo, Ikoyi.

Their duty begins immediately and they are expected to report back within four weeks.

President of Nigeria Institute of Town Planners (NITP), Toyin Ayinde, is the chairman of the panel, while Ekundayo Onajobi, a lawyer in a private law firm, is the Secretary.

Other panel members are a structural engineer, Dr. Akintilo Idris Adeleke; an architect, Yinka Ogundairo; representative of Institute of Builders, Godfrey O. Godfrey, and Bunmi Ibrahim, a real estate lawyer, Naija News reports
