AFCON 2021: What Peter Obi Said About Nigeria’s Loss To Tunisia

Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has expressed his view regarding the Super Eagles’ exit from the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
Naija News reports that Nigeria crashed out of the tournament on Sunday after a 0-1 loss to the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in the Round of 16.
A second-half goal from Youssef Msakni was enough to send the three-time African champions out of the tournament.
Reacting to the painful exit from the competition, Obi used the occasion to pray for Nigerians and wished them well in the new week.
He wrote: “Regardless of what has been lost, may the greater wins be ahead of you in the new week.”

Meanwhile, Super Eagles interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen has reportedly stepped down from his position.
The former player had led the Nigerian national team to the ongoing 2021 African Cup of Nation, AFCON tournament in Cameroon.
However, the Super Eagles got kicked out of the competition on Sunday night after losing to Tunisia in daring 1 goal down.
Naija News reports that Eguavoen had led the three-time champions to three straight wins against Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau in the group stage.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Eguavoen said, “What happens next is that I’m the interim coach and Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
“I will go back to my position and allow the NFF (to) make a decision on the way forward,” Eguavoen said after the match.
Recall that Eguavoen took over coaching of the Super Eagles after Gernot Rohr was sacked.
