FG Speaks On Conducting Free DNA Tests For Nigerians
The Federal Government has refuted reports that it plans to conduct free Deoxyribonucleic acid tests popularly known as free DNA tests for Nigerians.
Naija News reports that the Minister of State for Health, Dr Olorunmimbe Mamora, denied the reports on Wednesday in a short statement.
On Monday, a Nigerian Twitter user @Ekwulu claimed that the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehnaire, said DNA tests will be done for free in every government hospital from June.
The claim has been widely circulated on Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp, while many Nigerian social media users have expressed different reactions to the posts.
“There will be free DNA test in government hospital from June this year – Minister of Health.
“ME: l wonder if this is good or bad news?” the tweet reads.

Reacting, Senator Mamora said the claim that the Minister of Health said there will be free DNA tests in government hospitals from June is false and baseless.
The former Senator added that Ehanire or the Ministry of Health did not make such a statement.
He said: “This is a false claim. At no point did I or the minister (of Health) say this. The claims about free DNA tests are not true.”
