Airport Shut Down As Bandit Terrorists, Soldiers Clash In Kaduna
Troops of the Nigerian military on Saturday clashed with bandit terrorists forcing the closure of the Kaduna International Airport.
It was gathered that the accident, which happened around 12:30 pm on Saturday afternoon, forced an AZMAN aircraft scheduled for Lagos to quickly abort take off.
APC Convention: All Chairmanship Aspirants Step Down For Buhari’s Anointed Candidate
All chairmanship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have stepped down from the race.
Naija News reports that the six aspirants have decided to back their co-aspirant, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, as the consensus candidate.
Adamu is President Muhammadu Buhari’s preferred candidate to replace Comrade Adams Oshiomole who was sacked in 2020.
The decision to step down was made known in a letter dated February 25, 2023 and addressed to the Chairman, APC Election Sub-Committee read and signed by Akume.
Soludo Dares IPOB, Warns Anambra Workers Not To Obey Sit-At-Home Order
The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo has ordered that no worker should obey the Monday sit-at-home order in the state as they are all expected to turn up at work.
The sit-at-home order given by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) cripples economic activities in the state and other southeast states on Mondays as civil servants, banks, markets, and other public places are closed down.
The group said the order is to call the government’s attention to the injustice of prosecuting its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Bukola Saraki Meets Former Sierra Leone President [Photos]
Former President of the 8th Senate and 2023 presidential hopeful, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki has met with the former President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma.
Naija News reports that the former Kwara State governor disclosed this in a post on Twitter on Saturday.
According to Saraki, he informed Koroma of his plans to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29th, 2023.
Troops Uncover Wreckage Of Alpha Jet Aircraft Missing Since March 2021
The troops of Operation Desert Sanity have uncovered the wreckage of a crashed Alpha jet aircraft in Sambisa Forest, Borno State, according to the Nigerian Army.
The Army in a statement released on Saturday said the aircraft (NAF 475) had gone off the radar with two crew members on it on March 31, 2021.
The statement read, “Troops of Operation Desert Sanity on clearance patrol in Sambisa Forest, Borno State, have uncovered the wreckage of crashed Alpha Jet aircraft (NAF475) that went off the radar with two crew members on 31 March 2021. Further exploitation ongoing.”
APC Convention: Omisore, 12 Others Make South-West Unity List
The unity list for the south-west chapter of the All Progressives Congress‘s national convention has been released.
A former deputy-governor of Osun State, Iyiola Omisore was nominated as the National Secretary of the party in the unity list.
Twelve other APC members were nominated in the list which was signed by the five South-West governors.
Buhari To Chair Bola Tinubu Colloquium In Lagos
President Muhammadu Buhari has been announced as the chairman of the 13th Bola Ahmed Tinubu Colloquium, scheduled to hold in Lagos State.
Naija News reports that the Chairman of the Media and Publicity sub-committee of the colloquium, Gbenga Omotoso, made this known in a statement on Friday.
Omotosho disclosed that the event will take place in Lagos on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, and will be hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
PDP To Court: Declare APC National Convention Unconstitutional, Illegal
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to declare the All Progressives Congress’ national convention slated for today unconstitutional and illegal.
Naija News reports that the PDP made this known in the suit marked, FHC/ABJ/CS/389 2022, dated March 25 and filed by its counsel, Samuel Irabor.
The opposition party also sought a court order deregistering the APC as a political party, having failed to meet the requirements of Sections 222(a), 223(b), and 225 of the 1999 Constitution.
Buhari Appoints New Solicitor-General Of The Federation
A former Executive Secretary of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and other Related Matters (NAPTIP), Beatrice Jedy-Agba, has been appointed as the Solicitor-General of the Federation.
Naija News reports that Jedy-Agba was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in a statement issued on Friday by the deputy spokesman of the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Ahmed Abdullahi.
Recall that the Director of Public Prosecution, Mohammed Umar, was appointed by the President as the acting Solicitor-General following the retirement of Dayo Akpata in July 2021.
Nigeria’s First Female Vice Chancellor, Grace Alele-Williams Is Dead
Nigeria’s first female Vice Chancellor, Professor Grace Alele-Williams, has died at the age of 89-years-old.
Naija News gathered that Alele-Williams died on Friday at an undisclosed hospital in Lagos.
Alele-Williams, who was appointed the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin in 1985, was the first woman to receive a doctorate in Nigeria.
This online newspaper reports that she was a Professor of Mathematics.
