Insecurity: Buhari, Niger President Bazoum To Meet Today In Abuja
President Muhammadu Buhari will today play host to his Nigerien counterpart, Mohammed Bazoum for a State Visit.
The core of their meeting is to discuss challenges of security and strategic stability affecting the sub-region and the globe.
Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu who confirmed the meeting in a statement on Wednesday night said the meeting will last a few hours.
“The neighbouring leader will be received with full military honors, including a 21-Gun Salute”, Shehu noted.
The aide added that the relations between Nigeria and Niger are considered “a true model of interstate friendship”.
Naija News understands that Nigeria is bordered to the north by Niger, to the east by Chad and Cameroon, to the south by the Gulf of Guinea of the Atlantic Ocean, and to the west by Benin.
Terrorists have been using this routes to carry out deadly attacks.
Meanwhile, former Kogi lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye has taken a swipe at the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as aimless and directionless.
Melaye in a Twitter post on Wednesday went further to describe the government as a complete tragedy.
He said the worst part of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government is not just its failure bulackss complacency.
“The tragedy of the Buhari Administration is not found in governmental failure but complacency. The Government is aimless, directionless, lacks teeth with no moral compass. That is the greatest tragedy of the APC led government,” he tweeted.
