IGP Orders Sack Of Nine Police Officers Over Planned Strike
Nigeria’s number one police officer, Usman Alkali Baba, has directed the sack of nine policemen over their roles in a planned strike by police officers.
The Inspector-General of Police gave the order on Tuesday in a police signal issued by the Commissioner of Police Provost, Force Headquarters, Abuja, to various state police Commands.
Naija News recalls that some police officers had planned an unprecedented two-week warning strike across the country over poor working conditions, poor salaries, lack of genuine welfare benefits and outdated weapons.
The aggrieved police officers accused the Federal Government of lying about the increment in police salary and other promised benefits.
But the Nigeria Police Force denied that its operatives have chosen a date to commence a nationwide strike action over poor welfare issues, describing such a report to that effect as fake and mischievous.
The police chief thereafter dispatched members of the management team to different Commands and zonal formations to pacify the aggrieved police officers.
After three weeks, the police chief has ordered the sack of nine police officers for allegedly organising the planned strike by members of the Force.
The affected police officers are Inspector Nanoll Lamak, Inspector Amos Nagurah, Sgt Onoja Onuche, Sgt Franklin Agughalau, Sgt Emmanuel Isah, Sgt Adesina Ismail, Sgt Osoteku Ademola, Constable Ehighamhen Favour Ebele and Constable Ubong Inem.
Baba said that the culprits were identified and subsequently arrested after their phone calls were tracked, adding that the officers have been dismissed from service following their orderly room trial for the alleged offence.
The signal reads, “Be informed that following the conclusion of the orderly room proceedings of the undermentioned Inspectors, rank and file for the offences of discreditable conduct, improper conduct, breach of confidence, to wit: planning, organising, coordinating industrial strike within the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force; the Inspector-General has approved the dismissal from service of the following: AP/No. 245800 – Insp Nanoll Lamak; AP/ NP 287568 – Insp Amos Nagurah; F/No. 271367 – Sgt Onoja Onuche; F/No. 442680 – Sgt Franklin Agughalau; F/No. 495378 – Sgt Emmanuel Isah F/No. 508168 – Sgt Adesina Ismail; F/No. 508282 – Sgt Osoteku Ademola; F/No. 525839 – Police Constable Ehighamhen Favour Ebele and F/No. 528222 – Police Constable Ubong Inem.
