Reactions As Sanwo-Olu Imposes Ban On Okada In Six Local Councils
Reactions have trailed the total ban of commercial motorcycles popularly called Okada, in six Local Government Areas of Lagos State.
Naija News earlier reported that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos announced the Okada ban while briefing heads of security agencies in the state at a meeting at the State House, Ikeja on Wednesday.
The governor stated that the total ban on Okada in the six local councils takes effect from June 1, 2022, and would be fully enforced.
Sanwo-Olu pointed out that the ban in the six local councils is part of the phase banning okadas in the state.
According to Sanwo-Olu, the Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) under the six local government areas would also be affected.
The governor listed the six affected local councils as Ikeja, Surulere, Eti-Osa, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island and Apapa.
He, however, charged all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Area Commanders and the Taskforce to enforce the total ban from June 1.
However, some Nigerians have taken to social media to express their opinions on the ban on Okada in Nigeria’s commercial city.

"It is unfortunate that Okada riders are banned from Kano and Kaduna States while they ride with impunity in Lagos despite the ban by the government.”

You don’t like Okada in Lagos but anytime LASG moves to ban them you wage SM campaigns about “frustrating Nigerians struggling to survive”.
You ask what “alternatives” govt created for them.
Why the cries recently?
Your real problem is that you assume “Hausa men” == Okada men.

The major problem with okada ban are the enforcers, once they collect money from the okada riders lobatan. The enforcers will start okada business soon, we have a warped society. That’s the fundamental problem.

Next year, Lagos State government will still ban Okada 😃🤣😃🤣
I mean it calls for serious concern if a whole state government is confused and can't introduce a firm stance.

Two years ago, you banned Okada. Today, you're banning the same Okada again. It is not as if you lifted the initial ban o. You basically re-banned something you have banned.
Ijoba Banabasi. 😂🤣

This new Okada ban that will come into effect by June, Is it that the state government does not know there is an Okada ban before, or he just decided to upgrade it?
